Cook Like A Karibbean

Cook Like a Karibbean!

The best way to cook is like a karibbean! I know what you are thinking, African and Caribbean fused recipes. Although that is the foundation of our Kulture, karibbean cuisine is more than a geographical region. There is a certain vibe that your kitchen must have, and if you take a liking to it, it will inherently help you adapt to our cooking style. ? Now we are biased, but it is your cooking techniques, the love you put in your meals and so much more. For example….

How is your kitchen setup prior to preparing your favorite meals? Do you have music in the background? Do you have the proper cooking tools? Are you experimenting with each and every opportunity you get in your kitchen? What are you wearing? Lol, your image is everything and may tell us if you are confident with the meal you are cooking. You may already be cooking like us and did not even know it. We can write a novel, but we saved you the trouble.

What is a Karribean?

Karibbeans is a community of people who love food and slightly favors traditional African and Caribbean recipes. African and Caribbean culture is a dangerous combination. Just think of oxtails, jollof rice, and tostones all on one plate. This is cooking at its best and personally one of my favorites! ? I can tell you now that I would never leave my home if I were to get a cooked meal like this on a daily basis. If that sample mixture dish from Jamaica, Senegal, and Cuba went over your head, not a problem. Our Guyanese Chow Mein Recipe is a good introduction to our Kulture, as it takes a common Asian recipe spiced with some Karibbean flavor. Our community is more than what is on the plate, but also a vibe in your kitchen. To cook like one of us, is not only defined by what is on your plate!

Cook Like a Karibbean

First you have to set the mood. Karibbean cooking 101, LOL. Tune into your favorite radio station or turn on that created playlist. Music is powerful when it comes to your cuisine and will play a vital role in the outcome of your meal. If you would like a recommendation of one of our favorites, check out Amaarae. She is singer/songwriter from Ghana and we are hooked.

Now you need to gather your cooking tools. A big pet peeve of mine is to see people cook with stained and beaten-up kitchenware. Please do yourself a favor and invest in quality cooking tools. Now that you are making the investment in your kitchen and upgrading your cast iron skillets, check out some of our tips on the best way to season your cast iron skillets and pans

One last step is required prior to cooking. Remember to HAVE FUN! This is important because now you can tap into your inner chef. Don’t go with the flow and follow the recipe instructions. Spice it up a little. Become a foodie scientist
